LAHORE – Pakistan’s Olympic hero Arshad Nadeem has revealed that the much-celebrated promises of land plots made to him after his historic victory at the Paris 2024 Olympics were never fulfilled, calling them entirely “fake.”
The javelin thrower made headlines worldwide last year after winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics with a record-breaking 92.97-meter throw, securing Pakistan’s first Olympic gold in athletics.
Following his landmark achievement, Arshad was widely praised and received numerous reward announcements from the federal and provincial governments as well as private organizations. The announcements included cash prizes and multiple land plot allocations as a token of appreciation for bringing glory to the nation.
However, in a recent interview, Arshad disclosed that none of the land plot promises materialized.

“All the announced plots were fake. I did not receive a single one,” he said. “The cash rewards that were announced have been given to me but the land allocations were nothing more than hollow promises,”.
His revelation raised serious questions about the credibility and follow-through of such public reward announcements in Pakistan, particularly in the realm of sports, where the athletes often struggle for recognition and support until they achieve international fame.
When asked about mentoring young athletes, Arshad said that while his primary focus remains on his own training, the young aspirants who approached him are being trained by his coach Salman Butt.
