The stunning development was confirmed by British High Commission in capital which allows PIA and other Pakistani carriers to apply for permissions to operate direct flights to Britain.

The airline spox called it a massive vote of confidence in Pakistan’s aviation safety reforms.
PIA flights to Manchester
The exact date has not been shared but passengers can expect PIA flights to UK in August this year, as per sources.
The flight ban was imposed in late 2020 after tragic PIA crash in Karachi that exposed serious irregularities in pilot licensing, triggering global aviation concerns. After years of rigorous compliance, Pakistan’s removal from the list marks a resounding endorsement of the reforms undertaken by the Civil Aviation Authority and the national flag carrier.
The loss making PIA used to operate 21 weekly flights to London, Manchester, and Birmingham, and is now eyeing to reclaim its lost territory in the transcontinental travel market.
Aviation analysts are calling the move a turning point for Pakistan’s global connectivity. Beyond restoring flights, it is expected to rebuild trust, boost tourism, enhance business ties, and signal Pakistan’s return as a trusted partner in international aviation.
