LAHORE – The grieving parents of late actress Humaira Asghar opened up about their silence in candid interview with local media, raising serious concerns over mysterious circumstances surrounding their daughter’s death and expressing the fear that she may have been murdered.
Speaking to journalists in Lahore, the parents shared their deep sorrow and frustration, dismissing rumors of family disputes and highlighting the pain caused by negative speculation on social media.
“Daughters are dear to every parent, our love for Humaira was no different,” said her father, Dr. Asghar Ali. “The hurtful things said online were deeply unfair.”
Her father confirmed that they received a call from Sindh Police to collect Humaira’s body but were unable to do so immediately due to delays in the post-mortem and other legal formalities.
He also expressed serious doubts about nature of Humaira’s death. “Her body was found lying face-down in a storeroom, and the apartment door was in a suspicious state,” he said. “This was not a natural death. From what we’ve learned so far, it seems something terrible happened to her, possibly even a conspiracy.”
He strongly denied any estrangement with Humaira. “There was no family dispute. She entered showbiz with our blessing, and we were proud of her success,” he said, adding that she earned well and was generous in her charitable efforts.
Humaira’s mother shared that she last spoke to her daughter in August 2024. After that, her phone was switched off for months, leading the family to believe she may have traveled overseas. “She once mentioned plans to go to Turkey. I thought she would call once she returned,” said the mother.
In chilling revelation, she added that Humaira had confided during their last conversation that someone was harassing her and that her mobile SIMs had been blocked. However, Humaira did not reveal further details at the time.
Despite heartbreak, Dr. Asghar appreciated way Sindh Police were handling the investigation. “Although Humaira wasn’t in direct contact with them, their seriousness in probing this case is commendable,” he said.
Humaira Asghar’s body was discovered on 8 July 2025 in her rented Karachi apartment, where she had lived since 2018. Initial post-mortem findings suggest that her death occurred around October 2024, nearly nine months prior.
