RAWALPINDI – Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt. Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry addressed questions regarding armed forces involvement in political party negotiations and May 9 riots.
Addressing a presser, the Army spokesperson said the characters behind May 9 tragedy are known. He said these riots were pre-planned and this tragedy cannot be forgotten. He also vowed continued accountability for May 9 rioters until key figures were brought to justice.
He added that the Army maintains formal and professional relationship with every government, stating that it is not right to politicise this connection. “All political parties and leaders are respected, and it is encouraging to see politicians working together to resolve their differences peacefully, rather than resorting to disruptive tactics,” he said.
ISPR chief further clarified that for military, all political entities and leaders are of equal respect, and no political leader’s desire for power can surpass the interests of Pakistan.
