LAHORE – Veteran actor Tauqeer Nasir has expressed deep concern over the current trends in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, stating that modern dramas have shifted focus from sincerity and genuine emotions to superficial beauty and showmanship.
Speaking during a talk show on a private television channel, the seasoned actor lamented that the emotional depth and natural performances once seen in dramas have largely been replaced by excessive reliance on makeup and cosmetic enhancements.
“In the past, actors were emotionally connected to their roles, and their performances reflected truth and authenticity,” said Nasir. “Today, artificial appearances shaped by makeup and surgeries have overshadowed real expressions.”
He particularly criticized the growing trend of plastic surgery among actresses, saying that artificial beauty has made their faces look unnatural. “Actresses of the past were admired for their simplicity and natural beauty,” he added.
Tauqeer Nasir also voiced concerns over changes in directorial practices, saying that directors used to be actively present on sets, guiding actors in developing their characters.
“Now, many directors merely observe from monitors, which affects the overall quality of performances,” he said.
