ISLAMABAD – Air travel in Pakistan has been at a record high in recent times after the revised Federal Excise Duty (FED) on air tickets and now the government introduced another fee for passengers traveling on domestic flights.
A notification issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said passengers traveling within the country need to pay an additional charge of Rs100.
Passengers need to pay the new fee at the time of ticket booking.
The notification said, “In compliance with directive from the Civil Aviation Authority, all airlines are obligated to collect the specified amount from domestic passengers during the booking process”.
It said the flight carriers need to submit collected fees on tickets to CAA – Pakistan’s state-owned body on Aviation.
Officials notified the new fee to enforce the implementation of funds collection for domestic flight passengers.
The new move aimed to garner funds in accordance with Airport Charges Fee Collection Ordinance, which is being implemented from January 15, 2024.
