NATIONAL Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) continues to introduce IT-based solutions to further improve service delivery and facilitate the people. In yet another feather to its cap, the organization has now brought its ID services to mobile screens by making its next generation Pak ID Mobile App operational with beta release. The people can now apply for their identity documents, including CNIC and family registration certificate, without visiting the NADRA offices, avoiding long queues and waiting times.
This really indicates the forward looking approach of those sitting in the NADRA, especially its Chairman Tariq Malik, who has to its credit many projects aimed at improving governance through innovative technologies. It was because of his work that his name was included in the World’s 100 Most Influential People in ‘Digital Government’ by a European think tank known as Apolitical. He was also named among Top 100 Digital Influencers in the ‘Digital Community’ by One World Identity (OWI), a New York-based independent identity research and strategy think tank focused on cyber security, digital commerce and risk management. Result-based achievements earned him various national and international awards. It is really a matter of satisfaction such a person of capability and ability is heading the NADRA and we are confident that under his leadership, the organization will continue to achieve more milestones in the months and years ahead.
Sharing some important features of the latest app, the Chairman NADRA said this has a built-in document recognition system and contactless biometric verification which allow the users to enjoy a wholesome experience through a complete range of ID issuance services, including uploading and submission of documents, capturing photograph and fingerprints and adding digital signatures using a Smartphone. We believe this will go a long way in reducing rush outside the NADRA offices as the people will prefer using the app instead of personally visiting the offices for renewal of their IDs. Whilst it is really necessary to create awareness amongst the masses, especially those in the rural areas to take full benefit from this app, it is also important that the people are not charged much for availing this service. Then we will also suggest that technologies such as artificial intelligence be used to make NADRA’s database free of false entries and detect fake identity cards.
