MIRPUR – Universities in Pakistan are known for conservative dress codes in light of social norms and now the University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir restricted T-shirts and Jeans for male, female students.
A notification issued by AJK University directed students and staff to dress according to cultural and religious values. As per the new rules, female students and staff members are directed to wear shalwar qameez with a dupatta or gown.
For males, there will be ban on Jeans and only dress pants will be allowed along with collared shirt or shalwar qameez. AJKU said dress code aimed to bring discipline and respect for traditions.

These reforms aimed to promote positive image of university, and students and staff members are advised to consult the varsity’s official communications and adhere to the newly established dress standards.
