LAHORE – Pakistan’s star javelin thrower and Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem has left for the United Kingdom to undergo intensive training in preparation for upcoming international competitions.
The Athletics Federation of Pakistan said Arshad would undergo training in London alongside his coach Salman Iqbal Butt until August 11.
The training camp is aimed at helping the athlete regain full fitness and peak form following a recent muscle strain.
Earlier, Arshad had withdrawn from the Diamond League event in Poland, scheduled from August 12 to 16 due to a calf muscle strain.
However, he is expected to return to action later this month.
The 27-year-old will represent Pakistan in the Diamond League event set to be held in Switzerland from August 24 to 29. The event will also feature Indian Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, reigniting the much-anticipated rivalry between the two South Asian athletes.
Looking ahead, Arshad is also scheduled to participate in the prestigious World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, which will take place from September 13 to 21.
Arshad Nadeem continue to be Pakistan’s top athletics hope, having made history by securing a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and a silver at the 2023 World Athletics Championships.
