ISLAMABAD – Pakistani government officially declared July 5 (Saturday) and 6 (Sunday ) as public holidays across the country in observance of 9th and 10th of Muharram, 1447 AH.
According to a notification issued by the Secretarit Division, with subject DECLARATION OF PUBLIC HOLIDAYS ON THE OCCASION OF ASHURA.
In continuation of Cabinet Division’s circular No.10-01/2024-Min-II regarding public and optional holidays for the year 2025, it is notified that the Prime Minister has been pleased to declare 5th and 6th July, 2025 (Saturday and Sunday) as public holidays on the occasion of Ashura (9th and 10th Moharram 1447 A.H.), both for offices observing five (5) and six (6) days’ working week.
All public and private offices, educational institutions, banks, and businesses will remain closed on these days to mark the religious significance.
Security arrangements are beefed up nationwide to ensure peaceful observance of processions and gatherings.
