KARACHI – England Test captain and star all-rounder Ben Stokes has equalled the Test wicket record of former England great Andrew Flintoff, marking another milestone in his illustrious career.
The achievement came during the ongoing second Test against India at Edgbaston, Birmingham, where Stokes dismissed Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was batting on a fluent 87.
The breakthrough came through a well-executed bowling plan, with Stokes drawing Jaiswal into a mistake and sending him back to the pavilion.
With this wicket, Stokes now shares the record of 219 Test wickets with Flintoff. While Flintoff reached the milestone in 135 innings across 78 matches, Stokes matched the figure in 165 innings over 113 Test matches.
Stokes’ bowling record includes nine four-wicket hauls and four five-wicket hauls.
Flintoff, on the other hand, registered 10 four-wicket hauls and three five-wicket hauls in his Test career.
Stokes, known for his match-winning performances with both bat and ball, continues to prove his value as one of the finest modern-day all-rounders in international cricket.
