Big relief for Nawaz Sharif's sons Hassan and Hussain in corruption cases

ISLAMABAD – Pakistani court on Thursday revoked arrest warrants of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz in corruption cases.

Judge Nasir Javed of accountability court suspended the warrants till March 14 in the Avenfield, Al-Azizia and Flagship cases as sons of the seasoned politician moved court for relief.

Advocate Rana Irfan presented arguments before the accountability court while deputy prosecutor general Sardar Muzaffar and NAB Prosecutor were also present.

The defense requested the permanent suspension of arrest warrants against Sharif’s sons, who are in UK.

NAB prosecutor Sohail Arif clarified that the arrest warrants had been suspended, but the accused must surrender before the court. He emphasized that the accused should appear before the court.

After conclusion of the arguments, the accountability court reserved the verdict on the requests for the suspension of arrest warrants.

Hassan and Hussain Nawaz filed petitions against references filed by country’s anti-graft watchdog.

Pakistan’s accountability court declared both Hassan and Hussain Nawaz absconders seven years back.
