‘Cypher was a lie’: US Diplomat Donald Lu rubbishes sending secret cable to Pak ambassador

United States diplomat Donald Lu appeared before House Subcommittee in which he declined to send any cypher, calling it a lie.

Lu appeared before House Subcommittee on the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia and hold hearing titled, “Pakistan After the Elections: Examining the Future of Democracy in Pakistan and the US-Pakistan Relationship”.

Blome appeared before the house as Pakistan’s jailed PM Imran Khan named him for planning his ouster. PTI founder said Lu sent a cipher to then Ambassador US Asad Majeed.

In his statement, Lu stated that the allegations were false, clarifying that the cable did not accuse the US or him of actions against former premier. He emphasized Washington’s respect for Islamabad’s sovereignty and democratic processes.

During his testimony, Lu was heckled, with attendees calling him a liar and chanting Free Imran Khan.
