Armed robbers gunned down an elderly man on resistance and looted Rs1.5 million from him here on Thursday.
According to police sources, soon after 72-year-old Mian Shafiq reached his residence in Askari IX Cantt after withdrawing Rs1.5 million from a bank, two armed robbers, riding a motorcycle, approached him.
The elderly man offered full resistance but the robbers shot him injured and made off with the cash. The injured was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his wounds.
DIG (Operations) Sajid Kiyani taking notice of incident and sought a report from the officer concerned. He directed to trace the culprits through CCTV footage and ensure their arrest at earliest.
