FEDERAL Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, speaking to the media on Monday announced that the upcoming federal budget will feature an increase in defence allocations.
“All requirements of the defence forces will be met — not only because it’s their need, but also the country’s,” the minister stated, highlighting the government’s commitment to national security amidst growing regional tensions.
The Finance Minister’s assurance sends a strong and clear message: Pakistan stands by its defenders and will ensure they are never under-resourced.
This is also timely given the increasingly belligerent posture of India, which in recent days resorted to blatant acts of aggression.
Our defence forces responded with characteristic composure and strength, effectively dismantling the enemy’s designs and turning arrogance into retreat.
Despite India’s spree of acquiring cutting-edge weaponry and entering high-profile defence deals, it was Pakistan’s military preparedness, strategic foresight and resolute will that prevailed—reminding the world of our unmatched defensive capabilities.
Instead of introspection or restraint, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is resorting to more irresponsible and provocative statements.
Speaking at a rally in Bhuj, Gujarat—on the occasion of completing 11 years in office—Modi launched another reckless tirade against Pakistan.
His hate-fuelled rhetoric was not only deeply irresponsible but also dangerous.
This persistent narrative of hate serves not only domestic political purposes but also adds fuel to a regional environment that demands maturity and restraint.
In the light of these ongoing provocations, enhancing the defence budget is imperative.
We must ensure our defence forces are fully equipped, well-resourced and technologically updated to counter emerging threats.
We must allocate more resources for the defence to thwart any nefarious designs and maintain peace through strength.
It is also essential that the government ensures salary increases for personnel of the defence forces as well as all government employees.
The rising cost of living, driven primarily by inflated electricity and gas bills, has placed an immense financial burden on households.
A revision in salaries is necessary to safeguard the economic dignity of those who serve the state—both in uniform and in civilian roles.
