BAKU – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic ties through expanded cooperation in investment, trade, and regional stability.
The bilateral meeting, held in Lachin ahead of the Trilateral Summit between Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye, focused on reviewing the full spectrum of Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the steady upward trajectory of political, economic, defense, and cultural ties.
PM Sharif underscored long-lasting friendship between Islamabad and Baku, stressing two sides have consistently supported each other through critical moments. He expressed deep gratitude to President Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s strong backing during Pakistan’s recent standoff with India and acknowledged the solidarity shown by both the Azerbaijani leadership and its people.
Azerbaijan agreed to enhance economic engagement by dispatching investment delegations to Pakistan. Delegation-level discussions are expected to take place soon, aimed at exploring mutually beneficial projects.
The leaders also highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure regional peace, promote economic development, and uphold shared values on international issues.
