ISLAMABAD – Deputy Prime Minister Senator Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Iqbal Hossain Khan, with focus on cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
Dar emphasized Islamabad’s strong commitment to improving relations with Dhaka, noting that the relationship holds considerable untapped potential that could benefit both nations. The two officials also agreed to identify new opportunities to expand their diplomatic and economic cooperation.
In a separate engagement, Ishaq Dar spoke by phone with the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan with focus on the worsening security situation in the region, with particular concern over the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.
Both leaders stressed importance of promoting peace and stability across Middle East. Twi sides agreed to remain in regular contact and coordinate closely on regional developments. Additionally, they reaffirmed their intent to further strengthen bilateral relations and collaborate on issues of shared interest.
Lately, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed strong support for Iran amid escalating conflict with Israel, condemning Israeli airstrikes as violations of international law and Iran’s sovereignty. He affirmed Iran’s right to self-defense and called on the UN and global community to take urgent action.
Iranian President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for its solidarity, highlighting the close ties between the two nations. Former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari warned that the situation must not escalate into a repeat of the Iraq war or a global conflict.
