PESHAWAR – Dera Ismail Khan sizzled at 49°C as severe heatwaves continued to prevail in the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Experts have advised the public to take precautions as severe heatwaves will likely persist on Thursday with up to 07°C above normal temperatures.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure in the upper atmosphere prevails over the country, which will continue to persist till Thursday.
Under these weather conditions, severe heatwaves will continue to prevail in Peshawar and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday and Friday. Day temperatures will likely remain between 05°C and 07°C above normal levels in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The general public has been advised to keep hydrated and stay indoors till afternoon. If unavoidable, take necessary precautions to save themselves from heatstroke.
Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 44°C and 46°C on Thursday and Friday.
Meanwhile, severe heatwaves prevailed in Peshawar and most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.
Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 49°C. The maximum temperature in Bannu was recorded at 48°C.
In Peshawar, the maximum temperature was recorded at 45°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 57 per cent.
