Despite a clear order by the Islamabad High Court in February last (Feb 17), the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has not suspended the eviction order of some teachers and their fate is hanging in balance.
The IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah had on Feb 17 termed the FDE’s orders stereotype and without application of mind and directed that all the teachers issued orders by the directorate on the pretext they had exhausted their deputation period were entitled to work at the schools under the FDE and had directed Director General to appear in person before the court on March 16 (today) and explain why these teachers were being dislocated despite having served in Islamabad for decades.
Director General of the Federal Directorate of Education, Islamabad will have to submit an affidavit in the Islamabad High Court and respond to the misinterpretation of the judgment of another bench of the IHC.
In the affidavit the DG is required to submit complete compliance with the court’s orders. However, while talking to Pakistan Observer, a number of teachers, mostly female, held they had not received the suspension of repatriation orders.
By not complying with the court’s orders, the FDE is committing contempt of court, they said and warned the issue might be raised before the IHC in today’s hearing.
