The doctors of the Young Consultants Association Pakistan have boycotted their duties at OPDs and elective surgeries across Sindh in hospitals where PPE has not been provided to healthcare workers and coronavirus SOPs have not been implemented as per the Supreme Court’s order. Young Consultants Association Pakistan President Dr Hameed Radhan said the doctors had boycotted duties in the following hospitals in Sindh: Civil Hospital, LUMHSJasmshoro, Civil Hospital TandoAllahyar, Civil Hospital Thatta, CMC Hospital Larkana, Civil Hospital Sukkur, Civil Hospital Karachi and THQ Hospital Naushero Feroze. “Young Consultants Association Pakistan is concerned that this is a difficult decision for all including poor patients coming from far areas, but this is for the protection of not only healthcare providers but also for patients to save them from worse consequences of increasing cases and local transmission of coronavirus,” said the association in a statement. They reiterated that the Sindh government must address and resolve the issues of provision of PPE in OPDs and implement SOPs at clinics. If PPE is not provided and SOPs not followed, then theYoung Consultants Association Pakistan will continue their withdrawal of services, it said. The printed version of their demands was signed by the following members of the Young Consultants Association Pakistan Sindh: Chairperson Doctor Shabir Malick, President Dr Hameed Radhan, Senior Vice President Dr Saadullah Chachar, Lady SVP Dr Nazish Butt and General Secretary Dr Zulfiqar Zaur. Sindh has reported 41,303 COVID-19 cases and 696 deaths.
