LAHORE – Dust stom, and moderate rain disrupted life in several cities of Punjab including the provincial capital Lahore.
Strong thunderstorms accompanied by heavy winds have swept across large parts of Punjab, plunging cities like Lahore into unusual daytime darkness and prompting emergency warnings from authorities.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) placed all District Emergency Operation Centres on high alert and issued advisories to DCs and rescue teams across the province. Masses have been urged to avoid electric poles, loose wires, and other exposed electrical infrastructure amid the worsening weather conditions.
According to PDMA DG, public is advised to stay indoors and avoid open spaces to minimize the risk of lightning-related incidents.

Power Disruptions Reported in Lahore
Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) reported that strong winds have caused several of its feeders to trip, resulting in power outages in parts of the city.
Restoration work is expected to begin once weather conditions stabilize. LESCO has advised residents to report outages and refrain from approaching damaged electrical installations.
Meteorological Department confirmed on Saturday afternoon that a strong weather system has entered Punjab and is expected to affect multiple regions over the next 3 to 6 hours.
Thunderstorms have already begun in Gujrat, while other districts such as Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, and Sheikhupura are likely to witness dust storms, thunder, and heavy rain.
Central and southern districts including Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, and Toba Tek Singh are also under threat of severe weather conditions.
Storm activity is expected to extend to Jhang, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal, Bahawalnagar, and Bahawalpur. In some areas, hailstorms may accompany the thunderstorms.
