RIAYDH – The Shawwal crescent was not sighted in Saudi Arabia on Monday and the Arab nation would celebrate Eidul-Fitr on Wednesday, April 10.

Eidul-Fitr starts on the first day of Shawwal as the Islamic festival marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Saudi Supreme Court earlier urged people to report sightings of the moon and inform the authorities. Ramadan started on March 11, 2024, during which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.

Eid ul Fitr is one of the two main Eid festivals in the Islamic calendar, celebrated with feasts, gatherings, prayers, and gift-giving. It falls in the month of Shawwal and lasts for three days.

In Pakistan, the Meteorological Office predicted that Eid ul Fitr would begin on April 10, as the Shawwal moon was expected to be sighted on April 9. According to the PMD, the crescent moon would be born on April 8 at 11:21 pm and would be 19 to 20 hours old the next day around Maghrib prayer. The crescent could be seen for over 50 minutes around sundown.
