KARACHI – Family has refused to claim the body of model and actress Humaira Asghar who was found dead at her home in Defence area of Karachi a day earlier.
According to Gizri Police, initial attempts to contact Humaira’s family have been met with reluctance and refusal. Police officials confirmed that they managed to establish contact with her father, who stated that he had severed all ties with her long ago and would not be coming to Karachi to claim the body.
Police later traced a phone number from Humaira’s mobile device and contacted her brother. The brother facilitated a call between the police and their father, but the father again reiterated his stance, disassociating himself from the deceased.
Despite the emotional and legal importance of the situation, police say the father has not re-established contact since. Authorities have urged the family to come forward and complete the necessary formalities so that legal and forensic procedures can continue.
Police added that they are making every possible effort to convince the family to arrive in Karachi promptly, as the investigation cannot move forward without next of kin.
Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead at an apartment in Karachi. Her body was discovered when a court bailiff arrived at the rented apartment to get it vacated on court orders on a complaint filed by the landlord, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mehroz Ali.
The deceased actor was known for her participation in a reality TV show ‘Tamasha’ as well as a 2015 action thriller, ‘Jalaibee.’
