DUBAI – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has certain fees and process for replacing a lost or damaged driving licence for UAE nationals and residents in Dubai.
The service is available to individual customers, including UAE citizens, residents, taxi companies, and government entities such as Dubai Police and Civil Defence. Applicants must be medically fit and above the legal driving age.
As per the UAE laws, it is mandatory for the drivers to keep a valid driving license with them as it can be demanded by the officials any time for verification.
If you have lost your driving license and do not go for replacement, it can land you in trouble or you can face fines.
Replacement Fee for Lost Driving License in Dubai
The fee structure varies by age group. Customers under 21 years old will be charged AED 100 for a replacement, while those aged 21 and above will need to pay AED 300.
In both cases, an additional AED 20 is required as Knowledge and Innovation fees.

The process to replace a lost or damaged licence takes just five minutes and can be completed through various digital platforms.
These include the RTA website, RTA smart apps such as “RTA Dubai,” partner apps, the “Dubai Now” app (available on Google Play and App Store), and Mahboub Chatbot services available on RTA’s platforms. Self-service machines are also available for this purpose.
No additional documents are required to apply for this service, making it a convenient option for eligible applicants.
