ISLAMABAD – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday arrested nine suspects including a human trafficker involved in the boat accidents in Greece and Libya.
The FIA officials said that the suspects have been identified as Muhammad Shafique, Azmat Ali, Khizar Hayat, Mirza Sikander, Muhammad Nawaz, Shahid Amin, Shehzad Yousaf, Zafar Iqbal and Asad Abbas. They were arrested from various areas in Gujranwala and Gujrat.
The suspects are involved in illegally sending innocent citizens abroad.
Notorious agent Zafar Iqbal, who is involved in the Greece boat accident, is also accused of kidnapping innocent children and sending them abroad. He was arrested from Mandi Bahauddin.
The suspect is a member of an international human trafficking gang.
The suspect took Rs1.9 million and 2,300 euros from the family under the pretext of sending a minor child to Italy via Libya. During the journey, the boat met with an accident on the shores of Greece which resulted in the child’s death.
Fugitive suspect Shehzad Yousaf is involved in the Libya boat accident and was arrested from Kharian.
He is also a member of the international human trafficking gang.
