Amid calls of press freedom and censorship, Islamabad court issued orders to block 27 Pakistani YouTube channels, including several run by leading journalists and political voices. The court acted on a petition filed by FIA’s Cyber Crime Circle, which accused the channels of spreading anti-state propaganda, misinformation, and inciting public unrest.
FIA claimed that these platforms were being used to undermine state institutions, create fear and confusion among the public, and promote hostility toward government officials all under the guise of “independent journalism” and political commentary.
