A German delegation met with Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah to explore investment opportunities in the province’s energy sector. During the meeting, the two sides discussed various collaboration options, with a focus on solar and wind energy projects.
Minister Nasir Shah briefed the delegation on Sindh’s vast renewable energy resources, highlighting that the province is rich in solar and wind energy and offers golden investment opportunities. He noted that both local and international investors are showing great interest in the sector, and the Sindh government is providing full support and facilitation to encourage investment.
Shah emphasized that Sindh’s investor-friendly policies have significantly boosted confidence in the government, leading to a record increase in investments. He further revealed that the provincial government’s 350 MW solar-wind hybrid project will be one of the largest in the world, presenting massive potential for profitable investment. Sindh Energy Secretary Mussadiq Ahmed Khan provided a detailed briefing on ongoing and future energy projects, while Barrister Syed Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Project Director of Sindh Solar Energy Project Mahfooz Ahmed Qazi were also present.
The German delegation included Siemens Energy Middle East & Americas CEO Dietmar Siersdorfer, CFO Daniela Schoeppner, and Siemens Energy Pakistan CFO Muhammad Rafi, who discussed their company’s potential participation in Sindh’s energy initiatives. Minister Nasir Shah also highlighted Thar’s coal gasification potential, stating that global energy experts have recognized it as highly viable and efficient.
He invited foreign investors to explore profitable opportunities in Thar’s coal sector. The German delegation expressed keen interest in both the Thar coal projects and the 350 MW solar-wind hybrid initiative, signaling a promising outlook for foreign investment in Sindh’s energy landscape.
