In contrast, silver prices edged higher in the local market. The rate for 24-karat silver increased by Rs14 to reach Rs3,799 per tola. The 10-gram silver rate also rose by Rs12, now priced at Rs3,257.
Internationally, the price of spot gold hovered around $3,360 an ounce, marking a decline of $13.4 or 0.40% from the previous session. Analysts attributed the dip to a strengthening U.S. dollar, which typically pressures gold prices.
Despite this, ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East—particularly concerns over possible Iranian retaliation following U.S. strikes on nuclear facilities—continue to support safe-haven demand for the precious metal.
