KARACHI – Power Relief for Karachi residents as National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) slashed electricity prices for June 2025.
The relief is for Karachi residents only as users across Pakistan will bear brunt after the latest changes. Under the March 2025 fuel cost adjustment, NEPRA slashed electricity rates for K-Electric customers in Karachi by around Rs3 per unit. This cut will be reflected in the upcoming June electricity bills, offering much-needed respite to millions of consumers in the metropolis.
Residents of other regions will pay 93 paisas per unit more after recent adjustment. This increase comes amid a backdrop of inflation and rising utility expenses, further challenging consumers outside Karachi.
NEPRA clarified that separate notifications were issued for K-Electric and other distribution companies due to differing fuel cost calculations based on regional power generation and distribution factors.
While Karachi residents will benefit from the temporary rate cut, consumers nationwide should prepare for higher electricity charges in the coming month.
