Good News for travelers as Pakistani airline starting direct flights between Islamabad, Colombo

ISLAMABAD – Pakistani travelers often visit Sri Lanka due to the country’s picturesque landscapes, cultural heritage, and affordable travel options, and the now the travel route got new boost with direct flights.

Sri Lankan High Commissioner Admiral (Retired) Ravindra Chandrasiri Wijegunaratne made the announcement as AirSial, a private low-cost airline, will start direct flight operations between Islamabad and Colombo.

The senior representative said Pakistani Cabinet approved the direct flight routes between two countries. As of now, Sri Lankan Airlines operates flights to Pakistani cities of Karachi and Lahore.

Islamabad-Colombo Direct Flights

Pakistan and Sri Lanka will also conduct bilateral consultations after two years next Monday based on subjects such as trade, investment, tourism and culture and sports activities.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka enjoy strong trade relationship, bolstered by Pakistan-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement (PSFTA), which facilitates reduced tariffs and improved market access.

This agreement has strengthened economic ties, with Pakistan exporting textiles, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals to Sri Lanka, while Sri Lanka exports tea, rubber, and machinery to Pakistan.

Beyond trade, both nations collaborate in various sectors, including investment, technology, and infrastructure. Regular trade missions and negotiations further enhance their economic cooperation, making their bilateral trade ties robust and dynamic.
