The Punjab cabinet approved the legal action against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan and other leaders over what it said was a “hateful narrative” against the state institutions, said Provincial Information Minister Azma Bokhari. “The Punjab Home department will take steps in this regard,” said Azma Bokhari while addressing a press conference about the 8th cabinet meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in chair at the DGPR on Friday.
The Punjab Information Minister also addressed Punjab Governor Sardar SaleemHaider Khan, saying that “he returned the Defamation Bill 2024 without reading. At least he should have read it. And if he cannot read then I can go and read it before him,”.
AzmaBokhari said, “The PTI founder is spreading a hateful narrative against the state institutions and is trying to become Sheikh Mujeeb,”.
The minister said that all those people who were coming out of the jail after meeting the PTI founder were also equally involved in spreading the hateful narrative, and the cabinet also decided to take action against them.
“An inquiry report was conducted by the Home department and was presented today before the cabinet. Eleven times, a pattern is adopted to spread that narrative. A serious nature of statements are made and spread,” said the minister.
“Creating anarchy and spreading hate against the institutions is the agenda of this party,” said the minister, emphasizing upon the security of the country.
