KARACHI – Haval H6 raked in good sales in Pakistan in the last Fiscal Year, but there is bad news for those looking to get their hands on crossover HEV as the government jacked up Goods and Services Tax (GST) to staggering 18percent, and so the price of this model can go up to Rs1 million.
Auto giants like MG, Haval, and Hyundai have seen their popular models become substantially more expensive, impacting both consumers and the overall market. The price of Haval H6 HEV, which stands at around Rs11.75 million can climb to Rs12.78 million, after an increase of 1 million.
Price of Haval Jolion HEV, can also jump from Rs9.3 million to Rs10.1 million, an increase of roughly 814,000.
Haval H6 Price in Pakistan 2025
Over the past year, sales of hybrid electric vehicles such as Toyota Corolla Cross HEV, Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, and Haval H6 HEV have surged significantly. Industry insiders report a spike in demand, driven by consumers seeking modern, eco-friendly alternatives that offer better fuel economy and lower emissions.
“Hybrid vehicles are becoming a preferred choice for many Pakistanis, especially with rising fuel prices and environmental awareness,” said a senior auto dealer. “People see them as a smart investment for the future.”
Despite the popularity of HEVs, the government recently announced a substantial increase in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on hybrid and high-end vehicles—from 8.5% to 18%. This decision aims to boost government revenues but has sparked debate about its impact on the green vehicle movement.
Peopel from auto industry suggest that tax hike primarily targets luxury and high-end cars to generate additional funds, possibly at the expense of encouraging environmentally friendly transportation options.
While the demand for HEVs remains strong, the increased taxes are likely to slow down the rapid growth of this segment. Buyers are now weighing the cost benefits more carefully, and some potential customers may delay purchasing decisions.
