KARACHI – Pakistan famous actress and model Mehwish Hayat has dismissed recent reports suggesting that she and Indian rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh are facing a possible ban from entering the United Kingdom (UK) due to their appearance in a controversial music video.
The video in question, titled “Jatt Muhkam”, has amassed over 40 million views on YouTube since its release in November. However, the video has come under scrutiny in the UK for allegedly depicting minors handling imitation firearms.
According to viral social media reports, British Member of Parliament Manuela Perteghella has formally lodged a complaint with the UK Home Office, raising concerns over the imagery in the video. One particularly controversial scene features four young boys firing fake automatic weapons and shotguns alongside Mehwish Hayat’s character.
The speculation has since emerged that the UK Home Office is considering restricting both Hayat and Honey Singh from entering the country. However, no official confirmation or legal action has been taken by British authorities.
Responding to the reports, Mehwish Hayat took to social media to deny the allegations, calling them “baseless rumors.” She criticized the media for spreading unverified information, saying, “There is no truth to these claims. Media outlets should verify facts before publishing such sensational stories.”
The actress further emphasized that the video does not promote violence and that the portrayal of children was entirely fictional and meant for artistic expression.
So far, neither Yo Yo Honey Singh nor the UK Home Office has issued an official statement regarding the matter. The controversy has sparked debate online, with many fans and critics divided over whether the video crossed ethical boundaries.
