The Federal Capital’s District Health Office (DHO) is investigating 23 positive cases against a total of 3,053 tests conducted in the federal capital.
According to the District Health Officer Dr Zaeem Zia, though the number of new cases is slightly up in recent days, yet the positivity is down to 0.7%.
Islamabad on Monday reported 23 cases of coronavirus after 3,053 tests and the positive rate remained below 1%.
“Our teams are working on war footing in tracing the contacts, conducting the tests and isolating, if necessary, the affected persons,” said he while talking to Pakistan Observer on Monday. He urged the residents of the federal capital to be responsible citizen and keep wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
To a question, Dr Zaeem said Dr Zia made it clear all those schools and colleges would be closed if two or more people tested positive during random sampling in a single day.
Another reason for their closure can be violations of standard operating procedures (SOPs). We are therefore continuously directing the educational institutions to follow the SOPs to control the virus.
After the cases were detected at the educational institution, a recommendation was sent to the deputy commissioner to close it,” he said.
He added that some educational institutions have also reported single cases, because of which the health department is monitoring them closely.
“If the number of cases increases, those institutions will be closed,” he said.
After 65 new patients have been tested positive for Covid-19 from Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and Rawalpindi district a day earlier authorities fear that a surge in Covid-19 cases could be witnessed in the days to come.
