ISLAMABAD – Severe heatwave conditions will subside as intermittent rains and windstorms are predicted in upper and central parts of Pakistan from June 13 to June 16.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents are penetrating upper parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave will likely approach upper parts on June 13.
Under the influence of these weather system, rains and windstorms with isolated hailstorms are expected in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan and Abbottabad from June 13 to June 16 with occasional gaps.
Rains and gusty winds with isolated hailstorms are also expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Bannu, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, Waziristan, Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel during the said period.
Rain and windstorms are also expected in all the districts of southern Punjab and upper Sindh during the period.
Windstorms, hailstorms and lightning may damage loose structures like electric poles, trees, vehicles and solar panels in upper/central parts including Islamabad. Prevailing severe heatwave conditions are likely to subside during the forecast period. Farmers are advised to manage their crop activities keeping in view the weather conditions. General Public, travelers & tourists are advised to take precautionary measures during the weather activity.
