The untiring efforts of the Vice Chancellor, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi finally bore fruit, the Departmental Development Party (DDWP) of Higher Education Commission (HEC) approved a mega project for provision of missing necessities at King Abdullah Campus of UAJK costing over 399.4 million rupees.
According to the details, the prime objective of the project was to operationalize King Abdullah Campus (KAC) of the University, constructed at 1,021,233 sft by Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), however, some of the important facilities included in the existing plan of the construction of KAC were dropped from the scope of SFD mega project which had been proposed under this project.
Provision of electricity, water, internet, car parking and landscaping along-with the KAC were included in the missing necessities, which would be provided through the recently approved project. The Vice Chancellor of the AJK University Professor Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi took up the issue with HEC and effectively pleaded the case in the meeting of DDWP and convinced the concerned authorities that without provision of these facilities, the newly constructed campus of the varsity wouldn’t become functional for educational and research activities.
Earlier, the SFD had approved a mega project costing over Rs. 1400 million for the provision of necessary and costly equipment for the laboratories of different departments and MPhil and PhD research scholars of UAJK in 2019.
