ISLAMABAD – Pakistani actress Humaira Asghar was found dead in her Karachi apartment, with her body reportedly decomposing for six months. Her family refused to claim the body but Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori showed a compassionate move, and decided to arrange funeral at Governor House and cover all expenses.
In heartfelt gesture, Sindh Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori announced that he will personally oversee and bear all expenses for funeral and burial of actress Humaira Asghar, who was recently found dead in her apartment in Defence Phase 6, Karachi.
Governor while expressing deep sorrow over incident, said Humaira Asghar was not an abandoned soul. “She was my sister, and I will not let her be buried without dignity. I will take care of all the arrangements myself,” he added. In absence of active involvement from actress’s family, Tessori assured masses that he would handle everything from funeral prayers to burial. “Just like every citizen of Sindh, I consider Humaira my sister. If her family does not wish to participate, I am present to fulfill all responsibilities,” he added.
Governor also confirmed that Humaira Asghar’s funeral prayer will be held at the Governor House, for which the Imam has already been instructed. His team has been directed to manage all arrangements, with the Governor personally covering all expenses.
“This is not just about Humaira,” he said, saying it is a reflection of our society that a young woman’s body lies without a family to bury her. We must value and protect the dignity of our mothers, sisters, and daughters.
The news of the Governor’s involvement has sparked conversations across the country about societal responsibility, women’s dignity, and compassion in times of need.
As per forensic, Humaira is believed to have died last year, as her body was discovered 6-8 months later in her Karachi apartment. Authorities found her remains when a bailiff entered the flat to enforce an eviction. While initial medical reports suggested she had died about a month prior, digital evidence, utility records, and neighbor statements pointed to her death occurring in October 2024.
Her phone’s last activity and social media posts also date back to that period as cops noted signs of long-term neglect in the apartment, including expired food and disconnected utilities.
