Constable Ali Nawaz given hero’s welcome upon arrival
The Islamabad Police Constable Ali Nawaz was given a hero’s welcome upon arrival at the Islamabad International Airport from the United States where he had gone to participate in the World Police Games 2025.
Constable Ali Nawaz won Silver Medal in boxing event at the World Police & Fire Games 2025 in Birmingham, Alabama. He competed in the 86-kg cruiserweight category and narrowly lost the gold medal match to an Australian boxer in a 3-2 split decision.
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Islamabad Police Abdul HaqUmrani along with senior officers of the Islamabad Police Force received Constable Ali Nawaz at the airport.
The police officers and Ali Nawaz’s colleagues raised slogans for the country and the police force on the occasion. They pelted flower petals on the proud son of the Islamabad Police and took him in a convoy to the police headquarters.
Later, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Ali NasirRizvi hosted tea for the young policeman and lauded his efforts to earn repute and honours for Pakistan.
The IGP also ‘had’ brief lesson on boxing from the young boxer and praised his skill.The IGP hoped other policemen interested in sports would also follow Ali Nawaz’ example and assured Ali Nawaz support in international competitions. The IGP on the occasion presented green blazer to the star policeman along with cash prize.
Ali Nawaz expressed gratitude to the IGP and the Islamabad Police for their support and prayers throughout his journey.
“Winning the silver medal at the World Police & Fire Games is an honour not just for me but for the entire Islamabad Police and the people of Pakistan. I am the first-ever Pakistani police boxing athlete from Islamabad Police to achieve this distinction at this coveted global event,” he said. The talented boxer dedicated his silver medal to the martyrs of the Pakistan Armed Forces and the “brave hearts of Islamabad Police.”
“I sincerely thank IG Islamabad Police for backing me and facilitating my participation in these Games. His encouragement was a great source of motivation,” he added.
