Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar has said that the illegitimate mayor of Karachi will have to justify the 16-year legacy of corruption, mismanagement and bad governance under the direct and consecutive rule of the Pakistan People Party government in Sindh. The JI leader expressed these views after inaugurating the beautification work of Alhassan Chowk in Nazimabad Thursday.
The surrounding area and linked streets were laced with 55,000 square feet paver blocks.Speaking on the occasion, he said that during the ongoing tenure the JI restored and established over 125 parks, dozens of public sector schools, roadside gardens, open air gyms and other facilities for the people in nine towns of Karachi, whereas the PPP regime couldn’t cover even manholes in the city.
He recalled that the JI’s mayor Nematullah Khan had gifted K3 water supply project to Karachi but the PPP despite enjoying rule in all formats of governance couldn’t deliver on K4 water supply project — that too initiated by Nematullah Khan.He further recalled that he had also established dozens of colleges in the city, apart from establishing model parks, roads etc but the PPP has nothing to show but corruption and mismanagement when it comes to development of Karachi.
The JI leader held the occupied mayor responsible for the prevailing water and sewerage crises in the mega city. He said that the PPP government was also responsible for turning the city of lights into the city of garbage.Under the vision of JI Pakistan Ameer Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, the JI will deliver in Karachi more than it’s mandate, instead of flying files and shedding crocodile tears, he said, adding that the PPP was imposed on Karachi through rigged elections.Meanwhile, the JI stalwart appealed Karachiites to join the protest today (Friday) for their due rights.
He said that the government will have to pass on the effect of Rs11,00 billion saved by renegotiation with IPPs.
