The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said that the remarks by the global body’s Executive Director Krishnamurthy Subramanian regarding India GDP growth did not represent the international lender’s views, NDTV reported. “The views conveyed […] by Mr Subramanian were in his role as India’s representative at the IMF,” IMF spokesperson Julie Kozack told reporters in Washington. The spokesperson’s response came to a question about Subramanian’s remarks, wherein he said that India’s growth rate was projected at 8%. It was different from the international body’s projections. Last month, Subramanian had projected that Indian economy could grow at 8% till 2047, if the country redoubles the good policies that it has implemented over the last 10 years and accelerate reforms. “So, the basic idea is that with the kind of growth that India has registered in the last 10 years, if we can redouble the good policies that we have implemented over the last 10 years and accelerate the reforms, then India can grow at 8 per cent from here on till 2047,” he had said.
