DUBAI – The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday appointed Indian media executive Sanjog Gupta as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), marking another major role for India within the global cricketing body following the recent elevation of Jay Shah.
In an official statement released on Monday, the ICC confirmed that Gupta will take over the responsibilities of CEO with immediate effect. His appointment comes after a rigorous recruitment process that began in March this year.
According to the ICC, the position attracted over 2,500 applications from 25 countries, reflecting the global interest in the prestigious role. Gupta emerged as the final choice after a comprehensive evaluation of candidates from across the cricketing world.
Sanjog Gupta brings extensive experience in media and sports management and is widely credited for shaping the television and digital growth of cricket in the Indian subcontinent. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to further expand the global reach and commercial success of international cricket.
With Gupta now at the helm as CEO and Jay Shah recently named as ICC Chairman, India’s influence within the top leadership of world cricket continues to grow.
