APNS to support govt over matters of national importance: Faisal Zahid Malik
Federal Secretary for Information & Broadcasting, Ms.Ambreen Jan on Monday held a detailed meeting with the newly-constituted Federal Capital Committee (FCC) Islamabad & Rawalpindi of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), under the Chairmanship of Mr.Faisal Zahid Malik, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer and assured them of the early resolution of their grievances.
In his introductory remarks, Mr Faisal Zahid Malik while felicitating the Secretary Information on promotion in grade-22 drew her attention to various challenges caused by the unnecessary delays in policy decisions.
He shared with her concerns regarding outstanding payments, unfair distribution of government advertisements, revision of advertisement rates and other delayed payments.
The Federal Information Secretary assured the Chairman of the FCC and his team of the government’s commitment to addressing these issues through mutual understanding and cooperation.
The government, she, said was fully aware of the matters pending for quite some time and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in this regard has directed the information ministry to look into these concerns and resolve them at the earliest.
Chairman of the FCC, APNS Mr Faisal Zahid Malik also made it clear that the APNS would continue to support the government in its endeavors for nation building and in the matters of national interests.
He also commended the government for taking steps in the Federal Budget 2025-26 to provide relief to the masses.
He also paid rich compliments to the exemplary role played by the Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Ataullah Tarar on the media front during the recent military escalation with India.
Also present on the occasion were senior officials from the Ministry, including Mr.Mobashir Hasan (Principal Information Officer), Mr.AshiqHussain Sheikh (Director General, IP Wing), Mr.Sohail Aftab (Director), Mr.Adnan Arjmand (Deputy Director), and Mr.Arshad Khan (Deputy Director).
Members of the Federal Capital Committee who attended included Mr.Khushnood Ali Khan (Editor-in-Chief, Daily Sahafat), Mr.Waseem Ahmad (Editor-in-Chief, Daily Awam), Mr.AnsarMahmoodBhatti(Editor-in-Chief, Monthly Centreline), Mr.Agha Bilal (Head of Marketing, Daily Dawn), Mr.Abid Mughal (Regional Head Marketing, Daily Khabrain), Tahir Mughal (Nawa-i-Pak) and Syed Amjad Ali (Daily Jang).
This first official meeting of the FCC marked a meaningful exchange on media policy, government-press collaboration, and mutual efforts to strengthen responsible journalism in the federal capital region.
