ISLAMABAD – Pakistani government on Saturday announced government’s decision to suspend internet services in parts of the country to ensure public safety in wake of terror attacks during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf PTI protest.

In preparation for the upcoming protest, authorities are expected to suspend internet services in several cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Multan.

The stern decision to cut aims to maintain public order and prevent the spread of misinformation, following concerns about potential unrest similar to recent disturbances.

Punjab residents are also cautioned to stay informed through official sources and remain patient during the period of service disruption. Security forces have been placed on high alert, with additional personnel deployed to key locations to ensure public safety and prevent any escalation of violence.

PTI Protest

In anticipation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest scheduled for November 24, the government has implemented extensive security measures in Islamabad and several cities in Punjab.

Key roads, including the Srinagar Highway, GT Road, and Islamabad Expressway, have been closed with containers to prevent protesters from entering the capital. Public transport, including metro services, has been suspended, and additional security personnel have been deployed to maintain order.

PTI, led by Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur, remains determined to hold a peaceful protest, demanding the release of Imran Khan and other party leaders.

Despite roadblocks, the party is resolute in its plans. The government has warned that those participating in the protest could face legal action, including arrests, as the protest is deemed illegal by court orders. Negotiations between PTI and the government continue, but the standoff highlights escalating tensions as both sides prepare for a showdown.
