TEHAN – The tensions between Iran and Israel escalated further on the eve of a ceasefire announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, as both nations exchanged heavy strikes just before the truce was set to begin.
The Arab media reported that Israel launched intense attacks on Tehran, with powerful explosions also heard in the Iranian cities of Karaj and Rajaei Shahr.
In response, Iran reportedly fired drones and missiles at Israel in six separate waves, with the latest missile attack occurring after the official start of the ceasefire.
The American media reported that President Trump personally intervened to bring both sides to the negotiating table. He reportedly called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and urged an end to hostilities, claiming that Iran had been significantly weakened and that further conflict was unnecessary.
The ceasefire was reportedly facilitated with the support of Qatari leadership, who provided proposals to Iran US Vice President JD Vance played a key role in mediating the agreement alongside President Trump and Qatari officials.

In a statement following the ceasefire announcement, President Trump said, “Both Israel and Iran came to me seeking peace. The real winners of this war are the world and the Middle East.”
He further added, “Both nations deserve love, peace and prosperity. If they stray from the path of peace, there is much to lose. The future of Israel and Iran is limitless, filled with possibilities. May God bless both nations.”
