ISLAMABAD – More intermittent monsoon rains with isolated heavy falls are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Wednesday night and remaining days of the week.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate most parts of Pakistan which will intensify during the next 24 hours. A westerly wave also prevails over the upper parts.
Under these weather conditions, monsoon rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls are predicted in the twin cities, upper/central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir on Wednesday night. \
On Thursday and the next two days, more intermittent monsoon rains with scattered heavy falls are predicted in the twin cities, upper/central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir. Rains and gusty winds are also predicted at isolated places in south Punjab, southeast Sindh and northeast/south Balochistan during the period.
Heavy to very heavy rains may generate flash flood in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galiyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, northeast Punjab and Kashmir.
Downpour may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, Charsadda and Peshawar. Landslides may cause roads closure in the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir.
Downpour/windstorm and lightning may damage dilapidated buildings and weak structures like electric poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels during the forecast period.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 32°C and 34°C on Thursday, between 31°C and 33°C on Friday, and between 30°C and 32°C on Saturday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 32°C and 34°C on Thursday, between 31°C and 33°C on Friday, and between 30°C and 32°C on Saturday.
Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Islamabad, upper Punjab, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

Dalbandin remained the hottest place in Pakistan, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 46°C. The maximum temperature in Sibbi, Dadu, Bahawalpur, Nokkundi, Bhakkar, Chillas and Jacobabad was recorded at 45°C.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 96 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 88 per cent.
