ISLAMABAD – Widespread rains with scattered heavy and at times hefty falls are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a well-marked low-pressure area (LPA) currently lies over north Rajasthan (India) and is affecting eastern parts of Punjab (Pakistan). Under the influence of this weather system, strong monsoon currents are expected to penetrate the central and upper parts of Pakistan during the next 24 hours. A westerly wave is also present over the upper parts of the country.
Under these conditions, widespread rains are likely in the twin cities, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northeast/south Balochistan, southeast/upper Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday night and the next two days with occasional gaps.
Scattered heavy and at times hefty rains are likely in Punjab, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and northeast Balochistan. Heavy to very heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galiyat, Manshera, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, northeast Punjab, Kashmir and Balochistan.
Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera and Peshawar.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 28°C and 30°C on Wednesday and Thursday and between 30°C and 32°C on Friday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 26°C and 28°C on Wednesday and Thursday and between 28°C and 30°C on Friday.
Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Punjab, Sindh, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

Dalbandin remained the hottest place in Pakistan, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C. The maximum temperature in Turbat and Nokkundi was recorded at 42°C.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 29°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 88 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 27°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 92 per cent.
