ISLAMABAD – More intermittent monsoon rains and windstorms with isolated heavy falls are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong moist currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave also prevails over the upper parts of the country.
Under these weather conditions, widespread monsoon rains and windstorms with isolated heavy and at times very heavy falls are likely in the twin cities, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab and Potohar region on Sunday night. Rains are also likely at isolated places in northeast/south Balochistan, central/south Punjab and southeastern/lower Sindh.
On Monday and Tuesday, more intermittent monsoon rains are likely in the twin cities and at isolated places in Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Potohar region and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Isolated heavy and at times very heavy falls are likely during morning hours. Hot and humid weather is likely elsewhere in the country.
Heavy to very heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galiat, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Dir, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi and Kashmir.
Heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Musakhel, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Lasbella and Kalat.
Windstorms and lightning may damage dilapidated buildings and structures like billboards, vehicles and solar panels. Landslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 37°C and 39°C on Monday and between 38°C and 40°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 36°C and 38°C on Monday and between 37°C and 39°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meanwhile, rains and windstorms with isolated heavy falls occurred in Sindh, Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Kashmir and northeast/south Balochistan during the last 24 hours.

Jacobabad and Sibbi remained the hottest places in Pakistan, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 44°C. The maximum temperature in Chilas, Bhakkar, Bunji, Noorpur Thal, Layyah, Nokkundi and Dalbandin was recorded at 43°C.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 54 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 58 per cent.
