KARACHI – Jacobabad sizzled at 50°C as heatwaves continued to prevail across Sindh, including Karachi and Hyderabad on Monday.
The prevailing harsh weather conditions are likely to persist during the current week, with up to 06°C above normal temperatures.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure in the upper atmosphere prevails over the country, which will continue to persist during the next four days. A shallow westerly wave also prevails over Kashmir and the adjoining hilly areas.
Under these conditions, heatwaves will likely persist in Karachi, Hyderabad and most districts of Sindh on Tuesday and the next three days. Gusty winds are expected during the afternoon.
Day temperatures will likely remain between 04°C and 06°C above normal levels in upper and central Sindh till June 12.
Karachi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35°C and 37°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Hyderabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 42°C and 44°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in most districts of Sindh during the last 24 hours.
Jacobabad remained the hottest place in Sindh, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 50°C. The maximum temperature in Dadu was recorded at 49°C, and in Nawabshah at 47°C.
In Karachi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 68 per cent.
In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 68 per cent.
