LAHORE – Pakistan’s star javelin thrower and Asian Games gold medalist Arshad Nadeem returned home to a rousing welcome at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, on Monday morning. He arrived at 10:30am via Thai Airways flight TG 345, traveling from Seoul via Bangkok.
A large number of fans, family members, friends, and sports officials gathered at the airport to celebrate the return of the national hero. The crowd waved flags, held placards, and chanted slogans in honor of Arshad Nadeem, who recently clinched a gold medal at the Asian Games—Pakistan’s first in the event in over five decades.
Speaking to the media, Arshad Nadeem expressed gratitude to Allah for his achievement.
“This is my first gold medal after the Paris Olympics. I thank Allah for this success. Gold is gold—no matter the distance.”
He highlighted the challenging nature of the competition, noting the absence of rest days between events, which made this victory even more special.
Arshad’s father, visibly emotional, praised his son’s achievements, “My son has made the country proud once again. I am extremely happy today.”
He also thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for ensuring top-notch facilities and support for the athlete.
Prominent among those present to welcome Arshad were officials from WAPDA and LESCO alongside representatives from the Punjab Sports Board and other government bodies.
DG Sports Punjab and WAPDA officials lauded Arshad’s dedication and reiterated their commitment to supporting national athletes.
Arshad was accompanied by fellow athletes Yasir Sultan and Shajar Abbas, who also returned home to a warm welcome by fans and loved ones.
