KARACHI – A dramatic case that blends crime with celebrity, Karachi police detained at least three TikTokers in Rs130 million armed robbery while disguised as Federal Investigation Agency FIA officials.
The robbery took place last week in PECHS Block 2 area, where robbers arrived in a black vehicle and nabbed Muhammad Salik as he parked his vehicle. Two armed men and three burqa-clad women forced him into his own home at gunpoint.
In a shocking twist, one of the male suspects wore a fake uniform resembling that of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), complete with the agency’s insignia, a clever move to pass home invasion off as operation by law enforcement.
During the probe, police said Rs13 crore in cash, several iPhones, 20 luxury watches, some branded perfumes, a smartwatch, two laptops, and other valuables.
Those who were held were identified as Yusra Zaib, Nimra Zaib, and their brother Shehryar, all TikTok stars. Yusra Zaib, is also known for her modeling work with top brands.
Investigators used CCTV footage and digital forensics to trace the culprits, ultimately identifying them through their social media activity, including TikTok videos. The digital trail proved crucial in confirming their identities and tracking their movements.
A fourth suspect, Shahroze, remains at large. Police say raids are ongoing to arrest him and recover the stolen items.
